Gloria, a makeup artist finds herself in serious trouble when she visits her friend in Mexico. While at a club with her friend, the two get separated during a shootout. Stranded and desperate Gloria is captured by a cartel and soon realizes that she has no choice but to do everything the cartel asks including breaking several laws if she wants to see her friend again. Gloria has the saddest realization that she's caught in between a war involving the cartel and DEA(Drug Enforcement Agency) and her freedom is dependent on her outsmarting everyone. This is a film that entails being at the wrong place at the wrong time. The plot is believable and the movie doesn't go overboard with effects. One thing I would say made this film a feel-good one is the acting from the Mexican gang members. Every actor executed their role so well and on top of everything, this not a movie you can easily predict because of the surprising plot twists. This is an underrated movie which I believe deserves more credit. I definitely include Miss Bala on my list of 2019 movies to watch.
