Escape room is a movie that involves six strangers who receive an opportunity to win some money if they successfully complete a series of puzzles that await them in the escape room. Unfortunately for these enthusiastic strangers, the escape room entails real and dangerous puzzles that are deadly. With none of the players aware of this trap, the game starts out as an interesting one until people start dying. One thing that makes such plots worth while is the acting by the panic-stricken actors. Every actor in this movie gives their best performances and as expected we believe their fear with no doubt.
I have seen a number of people comparing this movie to Saw and even though the plot has some similarities, i believe it is not fair to compare the two. Escape room has a bit of unpredictable deaths. While the different rooms seem harmless, one ends up surprised when all of a sudden a player ends up dead in what seemed like a an innocuous environment. Even though people die in this film just like they do in Saw, the latter has a dark and terrifying vibe whereas Escape Room has a lighter vibe which is dominated by panic mostly. The puzzles in Escape Room also involve a lot of brain power and that makes this movie more interesting and worth watching. Despite enjoying this movie, i was a bit disappointed by how the players die too quickly making the fun part of the movie a bit too short and rushed. However, the epic twist at the end of the movie was unforeseen and completely changed my former conclusion that this movie is not dark enough. I definitely believe this is a movie worth watching so if you haven't watched it please include it in your list of 2019 top movies to watch.
