A gallery assistant steals paintings of a deceased man from his apartment. As the latter, her curator and other collectors plan on enriching themselves with this unique art, fate has a different plan for them. They soon realize that the paintings by Dease are more than just paintings and everyone who benefited from the paintings has to face the consequences. If you watch this film without reading the synopsis first then you won't see the twist coming. It had been a while since i last saw a unique storyline. It took no time getting into the action even though at first i wondered if this movie was truly a horror. However, the overall film score of the movie made the killings less tense and scary making the movie jokey like and that was a bit disappointing to me. On the other hand, the fact that the evil presence surrounding the paintings was unforgiving and spared no one made sense and scored the movie more points in my opinion.

At some point i thought Morf (Jake Gyllenhaal) was going to be spared coz he wasn't much of lunatic compared to the rest of the cast but hey, everyone had to pay and there was no room for bias in the script. Valuable lessons that emanate from greed surround this movie as seen by deaths of everyone who benefited from Dease's paintings. One thing is for sure though, this movie got me thinking about art and paintings and I will probably have to forget i ever watched this movie before purchasing any work of art because i was really creeped out by the haunted paintings. However, as a horror fan, this movie is not scary enough and most probably it's because of the little bit of humor the script tries to achieve. Don't get me wrong, i love this movie but i think with a storyline like that, it would have been more excellent if the atmosphere surrounding the movie was more tense and dark. At the end of it all, i definitely think it's a supernatural horror movie to watch.
